How this figure is calculated

Utilization is the balance divided by the credit limit, in percent. Several cards are added first: total balances divided by total limits. A lower limit or a higher balance raises the percent. The page reports percentage points. It does not estimate a score.

Worked example

A $2,000 balance on a $10,000 limit is 20% utilization. Adding another card with a $0 balance and a $5,000 limit makes the combined utilization $2,000 / $15,000, or 13.3%. Paying the balance to $0 makes utilization 0% on this form.

What this page leaves out

It does not estimate a FICO or Equifax score. Statement dates, authorized users, and closed cards with a remaining balance are not modeled.
